Technology stocks recovered part of last week's losses, when the Nasdaq 100 had its worst week since June on worries that companies building out artificial intelligence were borrowing too heavily. Chip, memory and storage makers led the bounce, with Western Digital up 6.1% and SanDisk up 5.5%, and Amazon added 5.0% after Morgan Stanley named it a top pick. The advance was narrow: only the technology and consumer discretionary sectors finished higher, and about two of every three S&P 500 stocks fell. Utilities, real estate and financials took the heaviest losses as the 10-year Treasury yield climbed back to 5.15%. The S&P 500 gained 0.42% while the Dow finished essentially flat.
