The Quarter in Brief
BlackRock, the asset manager behind the iShares funds, reported its third quarter of 2026, the three months ended September 30, before the market opened on October 14. Revenue was a record $7.75 billion, up 19% from a year earlier. Reported earnings per share were $10.57, up 25% from $8.43. On the company's "as adjusted" measure, which leaves out acquisition-related costs, earnings were $15.93 a share, up 38% from $11.55.
Both were above expectations: analysts had expected about $14.32 a share on the adjusted measure and about $7.42 billion of revenue, according to Financial Modeling Prep's consensus. Clients added a net $205 billion of new money, and assets under management (the client money BlackRock invests and charges fees on) reached $15.49 trillion, up 15% in a year. What made the quarter different was the gap between the two profit measures: a $564 million noncash charge tied to past acquisitions held reported operating profit to the same 19% growth as revenue, while adjusted operating profit grew 27%.
