The Quarter in Brief
Vertiv, which makes the power and cooling equipment that keeps data centers running, reported its third quarter of 2026, the three months to September 30, before the market opened on October 28. Net sales were $4.31 billion, up 61% from a year earlier, and reported (GAAP) earnings per share were $1.95, up from $1.02. Adjusted diluted earnings per share, the company's measure that leaves out the amortization of acquired intangibles, changes in the value of acquisition earnouts and deal costs, were $2.21, up 78% from $1.24.
Analysts had expected about $1.82 of adjusted earnings per share and about $3.77 billion of sales, according to the S&P Global consensus, so sales came in about 14% ahead and adjusted earnings about 21% ahead. Both also cleared the top of the range Vertiv itself had given in July. What set the quarter apart was demand: organic orders, which leave out acquisitions and currency, more than doubled from a year earlier, and sales in the Americas rose 75%.
